“When I dreamed of this house in Kedungu, I imagined more than just walls and rooms. I wanted a home that felt open to nature, yet still gave us comfort and privacy. A place where every level flows seamlessly where living spaces connect with water, light, and greenery so our family could truly slow down, recharge, and enjoy Bali at its best.”
— Scott & Jordan, Owners of Tanara Layers.
At Manon Design Studio, we translated a vision of balance into Tanara Layers, a contemporary tropical villa in Bali that redefines tropical house architecture through harmony between human comfort, modern design, and the living landscape.
The name Tanara comes from tanah (earth) and nara (human), symbolizing the dialogue between people and place. This tropical house architecture is a concept deeply rooted in Manon’s philosophy: Nature Inspired, Brand Defined. The word Layers reflects the villa’s split-level layout which is a defining rhythm that breathes openness, natural airflow, and quiet spatial rhythm into daily life.
Rooted in the essence of tropical living, Tanara Layers embraces tropical house architecture principles with natural ventilation, soft daylight, and fluid indoor-outdoor transitions. Here, every space celebrates calmness and connection, embodying a lifestyle that feels restorative, grounded, and unmistakably Balinese.
The idea of Open Split Living allows spaces to remain visually connected yet functionally distinct. Each level responds intuitively to climate and lifestyle that is creating a seamless balance between privacy and openness.
At the heart of this project, a tropical inner garden anchors every view, infusing the home with light, air, and greenery. Additionally, circulation flows effortlessly through three levels, strengthening the bond between human and nature which is the very essence of tropical house architecture.
A soft, one-tone beige palette defines the interior that is minimalist yet warm. Large glass openings, wide doors, and crafted wooden partitions invite sunlight and cross-ventilation while preserving intimacy.
The result is a tropical sanctuary that feels transparent yet protected where modern design breathes in rhythm with nature. Through this tropical house architecture project, it is a proof that we see design as empathy made visible where a dialogue between human emotion and space are talking to each other.
